This is an old engraving of the ruined abbey at Much Wenlock in Shropshire, UK. It was made by some unknown artist (possibly after a sketch by Gastineau but that's a guess on my part) and published in The Leisure Hour magazine in the 1880s or 1890s. So, as far s I can tell, it's out of copyright, since anyone experienced enough to make this was probably dead by 1937, some 50 to 60 years after the print was made (70 years ago, the applicable rule since it was published in the UK).

There is a 1600x1200 pixel version on my Web site at [link] too.

You can also use this image for stock (both commercial and non-commercial) if you like. I can also give you the scan file, which is at 2400dpi, about 20,000 by 15,000 pixels.

I have also submitted this for a print.

In a book... :D The engraving was originally done for a London magazine called The Leisure Hour, probably in the early 1890s. See [link] for more details.

I can't sell you a deviantArt print of it, because deviantArt deleted it and said I can't make prints of out-of-copyright scans. Although you could click on Request Print and see what happened, I suppose :D I can let you have the high-resolution file, though, or maybe I could get it printed locally if you wanted a print, by someone with more of a clue.

Hmmm... hehe... I've downloaded the 1600x1200 version.. Now I only need to check if I can make it look like something old an' original... That wouldn't be so hard with paintings [I know a bunch of professional painters :3] the only thing one needs to do is to apply a special mixture over the paint and "bake" it in a owen... but print?

I have some much higher resolution versions if you want. I have one that's about 30 megabytes, and a couple of larger ones, and the original scan.

The original that I have looks pretty much like it would in a modern book, actually. 1890 is not all that long ago. The 18th century and earlier woodcuts are another matter :D :D

To make it look original, print it out on thick and soft paper, with lots of space around it, then take the end of a piece of wood that's slightly larger than the image (after it's been sanded smooth and you've blown away all the sawdust) and press down very very hard. You will make a slight indentation all round, just as if the image had been printed from a block. Most people will also think slightly grey or brown ink is older.

I wish :D but no, someone else did, some time before 1890 or so. It's 120 years old; I just scanned it.
