I think this is Fenilee Reservoir near Whaley Bridge, on the Western edge of the Peak District National Park, but it might actually be a smaller body of water nearer to Whaley Bridge itself. It looked like it might have had a mill-race at one end of it.

We ate a makeshift luncheon of organic salad and yoghurt that we'd bought at Tesco in Manchester. This lake is only a short drive from the centre of Manchester -- less than half an hour I think.
It was starting to rain when I took this.

Really beautiful photo, I'm not enough skilled at pictures so I can criticize this, but the emotional side is awesome. Was it cold overe there? -- Since the last time you laughed, christmas fell ten thousand times.... Cold? it's all relative. I wore long trousers but went barefoot. Yes, it rains a lot, and yes, it's beautiful!
