Actually 31 photographs stitched together. There are shadows from clouds, too.

This is a bit of an experiment for me, I've never used this technique to do a panorama before. I can possibly get a better result by hand, but the software (all open source) did make it a lot easier.

It's the Peak District in the UK, near the Hilton hotel we stayed at just outside the city of Manchester, although I was looking away from the city when I took the picture.

Note: this is a fairly large image by DA standards.

Gotta love those sheep : )
the scenery is vaguely familier to southern Minnesota's hilly valley region. great stitch work too.

huray sheep!

how did you take the pictures before you put them together? did you put the camera on a tripod and rotate?

I stood (barefoot in the morning grass) and pointed my camera and shot pictures :-) Alternate pictures were focused on the hills and on the foregruond grass.

I used hugin to paste the images together; you mark points that are common to pairs of images and it stretches, rotates and positions.

Thanks for looking!

This is absolutely breathtaking!

The shadows from the clouds..the sheep..al stunning. I wish the length of the image was larger though...you should make this a print. :)

Thanks!!

I don't think I can make it a DA print because of the aspect ratio, unless I add a lot of white space.

As for larger length, I don't have any more phtographs to add, I'm afraid (as if 31 wasn't enough!). My husband and I do plan to go back to the area, though, in 2006, so maybe I'll photograph it again :-)
